A planning application for the revised restoration at Pitstone Quarry has been submitted to Buckinghamshire Council and Hertfordshire County Council. Once validated, this page will be updated to include a link to the planning application on each of the Councils planning portals. Their planning portals provide a mechanism to comment on the application.

Planning Documents

In 2025, following comments from Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire County Council’s, the design has been refined. 

Principal changes include:

  • Footpath design changed improving connectivity with wider Public Rights of Way network.
  • Land formation altered maintaining the wetland area, which is important for invertebrates and birds.
  • Reduced infrastructure including benches and signage at site.
  • Longer opening hours and provision of external car parking.
  • Design Development
    This document sets out how the design for the restoration has developed overtime and shows the changes made to the original submission in 2024.

    Master Plan

    Following five years of design development, the master plan presents the final landscape design features on completion of the project.

    Visualisations

    Photo visualisations have been prepared showing how the project develops over time from key vantages points within and into the site.

    Environmental Statement: Non-Technical Summary

    The Non-Technical Summary provides an overview of the main findings of the Environmental Statement (ES).
